Tree Seedlings (2-Year-Old Bundles)
WHY PLANT TREES?
Reforestation improves our environment by providing wildlife habitat, preventing erosion, conserving energy and improving air quality. In addition, when you plant trees, you improve aesthetics and the value of your property. Since inception of the Tree Seedling Program in 2009, there has been more than 151,300 tree seedlings planted in the Lakehead Watershed.
ABOUT THE SEEDLINGS
Seedling stock is locally grown by Hill’s Greenhouses Ltd. in Murillo, Ontario. Seeds collected from this region ensure that the trees are adapted to local conditions. One year old seedlings will range in size from 4-8 inches (10-20 centimetres) and two year old seedlings will range in size from 8-16 inches (20-40 centimetres) depending on the species. One year old trees are container stock and two year old seedlings have been hand transplanted.
- 1-year-old bundles contain 25 seedlings
- 2-year-old bundles contain 4 seedlings
The LRCA does not profit from the sale of tree seedlings.
