Planned Giving

By planning for a gift now, you can make an impact in the future with little or no cost to you today. A bequest (a gift by will), is a way for you to commit to giving a gift in the form of a set amount or a percentage of estate. The advantage of making a bequest is that there is no cost to you during your lifetime. The following language is an example of what could be used in your will:

“I give the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority, located at 130 Conservation Road, PO Box 10427, Thunder Bay, Ontario, P7B 6T8 with the charitable registration number 107590804RR0001, the sum of $_____ (or ___% of my estate) to be used as deemed appropriate by the Board of Directors.”

For a bequest in support of a specific program:

Specific programs could include environmental education, Conservation Areas upkeep and maintenance, flooding and erosion initiatives, public events (i.e. the Dorion Birding Festival, Silver Harbour Day, Little Trout Day By The Bay, Hazelwood Lake Family Fun Day, etc.), stewardship initiatives, or the Lakehead Conservation Foundation.

Support for a program is preferred over a specific project, as the project may have altered or ended by the time your gift is realized.
